Title: Toy Story Project
Course: Digital Photography
Artist: Alyssa Stults
Teacher: Mrs. Gollan
Subject Matter: plastic dinosaurs, trees, and the back of my house
Medium: Digital Photography
Project Goal: to make a story from pictures
Personal Review/Evaluation and Critique: In this project, there are quite a few lines. The trees make vertical lines, while the shape of the dinosaurs is erratic. There are also many colors in the pictures for this project. The dinosaurs' colors are very bright and intense while the background colors are more natural. There is texture on the dinosaurs leading people to perceive the rough texture of dinosaurs. When looking at these pictures, you see that they are taken from the perspective of a bystander. Someone who is witnessing these events taking place is seeing it right in front of them. Because of the intense colors of the dinosaurs, the emphasis is put on them. They contrast to the neutral colored background. I liked that this project was something different than just taking pictures of objects, but rather making a story. I need to improve my method of taking pictures. I probably should have taken these pictures in an area that wasn't wet. A strength for this project was definitely the perspective I took on it. By getting down to the level of the scene I was trying to capture, it made it look more dramatic and focused. I learned that it is hard to focus my camera when I am not looking through the viewfinder. If I was re-doing this project, I would move the location of my pictures so that I could lay down when taking my pictures in order to focus better. Also, I would have kept a story in mind I wanted to do and revolved my project around my story instead of taking pictures and then putting a story around it.
