Title: Smartphone Assignment
Course: Digital Photography
Artist: Alyssa Stults
Teacher: Mrs. Gollan
Subject Matter: The HVPF pool, a highway car, bananas, a skittle, and me
Medium: Digital Photography
Project Goal: Experiment with phone camera settings
Personal Review/Evaluation and Critique: The texture of the pictures is different from pictures taken from my DSLR camera. The quality of the pictures is a lot lower than that of my camera creating a different textured look. Within these pictures, there are a few different shapes. The zoom lens consists of the banana shape and also a circular shape as a result of the lens. This directs the focus towards the bananas. There are a variety of colors within this project. The bright light makes the vibrant red of my skittle even more bright making my picture a lot more happy. Also, the panorama picture of the pool brings a very bright impression to my project. In this project, there are a variety of colors and amounts of light. I didn't take all my pictures in the same room/spot to show some variety in my work. My pictures are pretty balanced, especially my panorama. In all my pictures, I tried to center what I was supposed to and keep the spacing balanced on each side of my objects. I tired very hard to put effort into this project, so that my pictures came out as best quality as they could. I did not like that there were a few materials that made the assignment slightly complicated to do. The reflector photo was hard to do because I couldn't get the angle right and the aluminum to work right. I liked that I found new ways to use my phone camera during this project. The areas that need improvement are the quality of the pictures and thinking more abstractly to take my pictures. A strength of this project was looking carefully at the directions and trying to follow them as close as I could. A weakness of this project was that my pictures didn't come out as good as I wanted. While doing this project, I learned that my phone has pretty good focusing skills. I did not realize how easily it was to get my phone to do what I wanted. I could have used more time on this project if I was doing it over again. I would have taken more time to take pictures and taken more.
