Title: Candid Moments
Course: Digital Photography
Artist: Alyssa Stults
Teacher: Mrs. Gollan
Subject Matter: Ciara Charlick, Kylei McRee, and Makenzie Doperiala
Medium: Digital Photography
Project Goal: How to capture emotions of people without them knowing; in their natural/purest form
Personal Review/Evaluation and Critique: In these pictures, there are many colors. Kylei's shirt brings a lot of color to the picture because is contrasts from the tan cabinet behind Ciara. There are also quite a few shapes in these pictures. The window behind Makenzie is composed of lot of rectangles/squares. The small posters also add a few rectangles to the background. The three subjects take up the photos nicely. They are not too spread out or too squished together. The makeup of space in these pictures keeps the project aligned. The nice spacing, the focus is on the subjects of the pictures showing unity between them. The emphasis in these pictures is on the subjects, Kylei, Ciara, and Makenzie. Eyes are drawn to them because they take up a large amount of the pictures. I enjoyed trying to capture these pictures because candids can come out really well. I wish mine would have come out better. I should have changed my aperture and shutter speed, so that the lighting in my pictures was a lot better. I think I did well with a few of the pictures capturing candid moments of the girls. I picked good moments to photograph, but by not changing the settings on my camera, my pictures did not turn out as well as they could have. When doing this project, I learned how to take pictures at a good angle and using the whole frame for my photos. If I was doing the project again, I would rather take candids outside rather than inside. This would increase the quality and lighting on my pictures. This project was useful to me because I had the opportunity to experiment with the timing of the pictures and see what I can improve.
